The West Brookfield Historical Commission welcomes you to a retrospective of the town portraits created by local artist Jacob Knight, whose primitive style also has a unique contemporary slant. In addition, the exhibition will include a selection of black and white photography by Worcester artist and personal friend of Jacob, Stephen DiRado, revealing a bit of Jacob’s world and his creative process.
Jacob Knight (born Roger Emery Jaskoviak, 1938-1994) was an American Postwar and Contemporary painter, a self-taught and accomplished artist well known in the New England area.
Though not exactly a household name, Jacob has a powerful cadre of acolytes and a number of avid collectors, who continue to bear the torch which illuminates this legendary characters’ work.
