The Ruth Wells Center for the Arts was constructed by Ebenezer D. Ammidown sometime between the years 1825 and 1828. It became the largest single residence in the town at that time, which gave it the nickname “Ammidown Castle” and later the "Dresser House" and "The Pines".

In Loving Memory
We at The Ruth Wells Center for the Arts are deeply saddened by the loss of our long time Board Member, Maureen Prokos, who left this life on December 26, 2019.
Maureen was a founding member of the “Arts Center” and gave her energy to many a
Board position throughout more than four decades of service. As a founding member she worked alongside Ruth Wells in setting up the organization and continued to do all she could to help, despite many changes in the town and the Center.
We shall miss her dedication, her tireless work and energy, her wisdom and knowledge, and the love and grace with which she lived her life.
Thank you, Maureen️
