About Us

The Ruth Wells Center for the Arts was formed in 1977 as The Quinebaug Valley Council for the Arts and Humanities (QVCAH) by a dedicated group of people concerned with the role of the arts and humanities in the lives of local citizens – before the days of mandated local cultural commissions. As government funding for local cultural endeavors continues to disappear, the role of the Ruth Wells Center for the Arts is more important than ever in our lives and the lives of our children.

We are proud to serve you and all of our surrounding communities, we hope to continue doing so for generations to come.
