These are certainly unprecedented times and we, the Board of Directors at the Ruth Wells Center for the Arts, hope that you and your loved ones are healthy and safe.
Along with other businesses and nonprofit organizations in the area, we have halted all events, classes and workshops until we can operate in the safest manner possible.
Every June, under normal circumstances, we hold an annual meeting with an agenda that includes plans for the coming year and the election of new board members.
This meeting will be rescheduled for the end of September. Current board members and officers will remain in place until that time. More information on this will come to you later this summer.
Summer Kids’ Art Camp
Much to our disappointment, this camp will not be held in person this year. We are working with our instructors to develop kits for pick up and online events to continue our mission to offer art education to the children of the communities we serve.
Though we cannot provide physical experiences, as a board we are brainstorming ways we can provide our members with virtual experiences, classes, and exhibits. Please visit our Facebook page and YouTube Channel for virtual classes and DIY videos.
Due to the lack of benefits we can provide to our members during this pandemic, we have not sent out renewal membership notices for this year. Without our membership intake our financial situation is a challenge. We are asking that you consider making a donation in any amount to assist us in maintaining this valuable community organization.
We have also created a Go Fund Me page with the hopes of raising $5,000 which will allow us to offer classes, events and workshops when we can operate.

The Maureen B. Prokos Memorial Garden
As you may be aware, we lost our longtime friend and board member, Maureen, in 2019; we miss her every day. In her memory, along with the Southbridge Garden Club, a garden has been created in her memory. Please visit our Facebook page to see pictures of the garden. When appropriate and safe, plans will be made for a dedication.
